Earth and Wood

This piece is called Earth and Wood. The markings are made with the ancient native Canadian technique of Pyrography. I loved the natural textures of this gourd and wanted to accentuate its beauty and form. The images on the gourd are about growth and movement like a tree or a plant. Symbolically this represents to me the growth and patience of a mother’s love which grows and moves. She changes and adapts her world for the love of her child. I am inspired by beauty in the natural world and create original abstracted pieces like this as a reminder of how beautiful and organic life can be if we just pause to notice her.
