Gerald J Sandau
Chilliwack, Canada
Self taught, Gerald has emerged with a natural talent to create original, one of a kind,
sculptures of the unique and wonderous creatures that the Creator blessed us with.
A lifetime of working with animals and nature, while farming and ranching, has endeared
him to the beauty of wildlife in its natural habitat when uninterrupted by human intervention.
Their grace and grandeur, their perks and quirks, often humorous, sometimes fearsome,
always alert, moves him to capture one frame in their movement. He creates, from nature's stone,
finely detailed, three dimensional wildlife sculptures. Works in jade, chlorite, soapstone, alabaster
and perypholite. He also feels a bond with the First Nations Forefathers of our great nations in
their reverence with Nature, and enjoys creating effigies of the proud historical Native figures.
Our Creator bestowed upon every one of us the custodianship of this wondrous Planet and all its creatures.
TAKEN FOR GRANTED are the things we most appreciate and enjoy;
The Song Birds cheering the early morning risers;
The majesty of the Bull Moose and the Blue Whale;
The serenity of the Bald Eagle circling high overhead;
The hunting cry of the Timber Wolf and the Coyote;
The cunning of the Fox;
The lordship of the Grizzly Bear;
The kinship between Man and the Dolphin at sea;
The beauty Nature blesses us with, every day.
What if - tomorrow, THEY WERE GONE?
It is my hope that my sculptures will arouse in you
an awareness of the beauty of our Heritage and why we
must preserve it for the future generations. Our Creator
bestowed upon every one of us the custodianship of this
wondrous Planet and all its creatures. Greed and fear
are Man's greatest faults, and Nature's greatest enemies.
